Northern Lights (acoustic)

from & Friends & Family by RL Heyer

about

One of those songs I wrote in the middle of the night when I tried to see the Northern Lights and realized my beautiful family is just as rare and precious

lyrics

I couldn't keep you in my bed last night
Because you want to see the Northern Lights
You'd always heard they were quite the sight
Green electricity burning bright

Someone posted, or someone said
It could've been Jimmy, but it might've been Fred
Look up tonight, don't just lie in bed
If you're lucky, see the sky glowing green and red

And then you can finally say, "Hey, hey, hey, hey
I just saw the Northern Lights"

Looked out the window, they weren't there
No matter how long I stood and stared
I understand that they're kinda rare
But who else is gonna care about a solar flare

But I've got you to hold me near
Every day of every week and every month of the year
And with our flower, that little hurricane, and the deer
This ship we can learn to steer

To a place where we can say, "Hey, hey, hey, hey
I just saw the Northern Lights"
"Hey, hey, hey, hey, I just saw the Northern Lights"

I want to see them
I know you feel that way, too
But if I had to choose right now
I swear I'd just want to lie in bed with you
With you
With you, you, you, you

And now we can finally say, "Hey, hey, hey, hey
I just saw the Northern Lights"
"Hey, hey, hey, hey I just saw the Northern Lights"
"Hey, hey, hey, hey I just saw the Northern Lights"
"Hey, hey, hey, hey I just saw the Northern Lights"
"Hey, hey, hey, hey I just saw the Northern Lights"
